SUMMARY

Liquid-liquid extraction continues to be a popular and perhaps the most common method for extracting drugs from biological samples for clinical and forensic purposes. It is often the fastest and the most efficient method for the extraction of a wide range of pharmacological substances and their unconjugated metabolites. Keeping the sample volume (2-5mL) and solvent volume (2 mL) to a minimum yields cleaner extracts, provides greater analytical accuracy, extends analytical column life, and reduces down time for cleaning andmaintenance of instrumerltatiorl. Commercially available extraction tubes such as TOXI.TUBES A and B provide the analyst with convenience and lot-to-lot reproducibility while significantly reducing labor associated with in-house preparation and quality control.
